Men's Magazine Blasted for Offering
'Boob Job for the Girlfriend' Competition Prize
24th Aug, 2007
Zoo, a men's magazine, has been heavily criticised for offering a prize
of $10,000 breast implants for the best cleavage shot as voted by the
readers. Questions have been raised as to whether the competition is even
legal.
Several groups have slammed the move as an unethical, potentially unsafe
publicity stunt which is in poor taste and objectifies women. Concerns
have been raised that women could be entered in the competition without
their knowledge.
"It's medically unethical... What would we think if a women's magazine
ran a lottery for a penis enlargement and asked women to volunteer their
boyfriends?" asked Dr Howard Webster, president of the Australian
Society of Plastic Surgeons.
